Return to Halekulani

Our annual tea—the third at Halekulani’s Orchid’s restaurant—was a great success! We enjoyed great conversation, a wonderful tea service, and a lively round of Jane Austen volleyball. Many thanks to all who attended, and watch for our photo in the next JASNA News.

Coming up on April 7 is our next reading group meeting featuring a discussion of Emma. The group is open to all local and visiting JASNA members; contact us for more information.

Talbot Talks Cult of Sensibility

Special guest Jeanne Talbot, the Regional Coordinator for JASNA San Diego, gave a small group of us a presentation on “The Cult of Sensibility” as background for a better understanding of Sense and Sensibility. It was a fascinating talk and lead to lively discussion over delicious refreshments provided by a generous and thoughtful JASNA Hawai`i member.

JASNA President Claire Bellanti visits Hawai‘i

JASNA President Claire Bellanti lectured at the University of Hawai‘i and the Hawai`i State Public Library. The visit was covered in an October 22, 2015 feature article in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

32 people attended the Friday UH lecture and an overflow standing room only crowd of 85 came to the Saturday lecture at the State Library. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. On Friday night, Ms. Bellanti met with local members for dinner at Tiki’s in Waikiki.
